Casual dairy farmhands – seasonal positions

posted in: Jobs | 2

Seeking backpackers with dairy experience:  get your regional work days filling casual vacancies on one of a number of farms in beautiful SW Victoria.

In addition to recruiting for permanent positions, WorkEthic acts as an an agent for Labour Solutions Australia (LSA), a national labour hire and workforce solutions company that provides various staffing solutions to a wide variety of clients and industries.

We have positions coming up for experienced dairy farmhands – some casual vacancies, some seasonal positions to boost staffing during calving season – on farms in south west Victoria.

These are full-time, casual positions (from 4-12 weeks) that would suit 417/462 visa holders, as the work will count towards regional work requirements.

Most come with accommodation.  The farms are out of town, of course, so you’ll need your own transport to be able to enjoy your down time and explore the region – and it is well worth exploring:  late summer/autumn is the best time of year along the Shipwreck Coast and The Great Ocean Road.

  • The primary responsibility of most of these positions will be to participate in the daily milk harvesting operations. These are physical roles, and the operators will be expected to take part in all aspects of milk harvesting, such as cups-on, herding and cleaning.
  • Experience in appropriate procedures for hygiene and cow health is required.
  • Experience dealing with calves and newly calved cows would be an advantage.
  • Tractor driving experience would also be an advantage.

A current, valid drivers licence is essential.

One position is for immediate start – others will be available late February-March through April/May.

Please apply with a CV detailing your dairy skills and experience, indicate your availability, and whether you have your own transport.
